This is the crux of the problem and why this post was so interesting … “An omelette is one of those dishes that is easy to make, but difficult to make well,” said Iida. “We thought it would be an ideal test to improve the abilities of a robot chef, and optimise for taste, texture, smell and appearance.”

Getting robots to complete a repetitive task – a definite engineering problem but one with discrete observable criteria in most cases – only as complex as the mechanical problem is. Qualitative criteria that is unobservable is an interesting shift
